Summer events at Melin Dolwion

After a wonderfully successful event at the beginning of April, we are gearing up for two very exciting residentials in May and June.

From May 22-25 Maggie Nicols is running her first ever residential course at the mill, The Challenge of Simplicity.

The plan for the weekend is to empower those low in confidence and challenge the complacent who might assume that simple techniques are beneath them.

Maggie loves working with mixed ability groups and helping everyone reach their full potential.

You don’t have to be an experienced musician, or even a musician, to participate in the activities.

Expect a weekend of sound making and soul journeying in a safe and inspiring environment!

From June 19-21 Variegated Women will be setting up camp in the mill, doing a special performance on the Friday night (19 June).

Frankie Armstrong, Laura Bradshaw, Ruth Bradshaw, Pauline Down and Sarah Harman are pioneers of the natural voice movement with several centuries’ worth of singing experience between them.

They will be running a number of activities related to singing and voice work, with emphasis on songs about social justice and peace.

Booking is now open for both events, so get in touch if you want to come along.

Also get in touch if you have any questions or want further information about catering or accessibility.

Residential and non-residential spaces are available for all events.

The Gathering

Don’t forget about our regular event the Gathering, which takes place on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.

In May the Gathering will take place on 4 and 18 May.

The Gathering is space and time where people of mixed musical abilities come together to improvise music, sound and community.

What happens, and the noises that are made, wholly depends on who comes along.

The one guarantee is that it is different every time.

Everyone is welcome.
