Wales Improvisers Orchestra – first meeting

The first meeting of the Wales Improvisers Orchestra (WIO) happened this week at Melin Dolwion.

Maggie and Pete discuss improvisation techniques

Participants (including Buttons the dog) explored a number of accessible approaches to free improvisation, many of which were devised by the late John Stevens.

Next WIO meeting – Monday 7 September

All are welcome to attend WIO meetings. They will take place at Melin Dolwion on the first Monday of every month from 3-5pm.

The next meeting is on Monday 7 September and will coincide with our week-long Grand Gathering.

WIO welcomes participants from across the diversity of instrumentalists, vocalists, poets, dancers of every style and degree of experience.

To attend WIO meetings there is a suggested donation of £2-4 to cover our running costs (e.g. fuel, especially in the winter), but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Participants are then welcome to stay for the Gathering which takes place on the first and third Monday of the month from 7.30pm.
